Israel makes political and security news daily, but this story tops it all: Searchers are desperately looking for a ‘Million Dollar Mattress’ in Israel.
A generous daughter bought a new mattress to surprise her old mother, who'd been sleeping on a lumpy bed. Unfortunately, once the old mattress was hauled away and the new mattress securely in place, the mother revealed her life savings - worth $1 million - had been stuffed into the old one.
With the help of workers from the trash company, the lady has been searching. She identified three potential mattresses, but none thus far have turned out to be the one.
The mattress is in a landfill in which 2,500 tonnes of waste are disposed of every day
