That is because you have no idea about how your political spectrum is shifted from ours.

I'll state again, that you have no significant left. To be honest I like that idea as I have no faith in what left we've got here. The green parties in europe are considered left, as well as the social democrats. Obama, is about between the dutch centred right democrats (CDA) and the right liberals (VVD). We've got a new significant right (PVV) of which it is unclear yet how to position them. I belong to the traditional right wing in this country. But even that is much to the left of your republican party and much more inline with obama.
