When I started as a consultant I charged $10/Hr, back in the early eighties. My latest consulting job, which turned into my current full time position, I charged $105/Hr (in 2000), the highest I have received was from a real PITA customer @ $125 + travel time. I usally am willing to pick up small jobs from Mom&Pop type places @$50/Hr if I can work from home and off a retainer.

When looking to hire, we generally start in the $65K-75K range, but with regular raises can be significantly more that that, easily into six figures prior to benefits.
