>Chris, even Obama's own party has raised serious concerns about allowing some of the detainees on U.S. soil and allow them to be tried in the U.S. court system. This is another case where Obama made a huge promise without serious consideration of the results.
I completely agree that he made campaign promises, particularly in this area, and is backing off on them. Although I like Obama, I'm tempted to say that he made the false promises intentionally to win the election. I can't believe, with Obama being a lawyer, he didn't foresee problems with prosecuting all these detainees in federal court.
While I can see him not anticipating a problem with putting them in the Supermax prison (Ramzi Yousef, 1993 World Trade Center bomber and nephew of Khalid Sheik Mohammed is there), he must have anticipated problems with Miranda rights. How could he have thought that these detainees were read their Miranda rights?
