You might want to read some of the literature from the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons - you get a real education on what "universal health coverage" is really all about.

For an education about the latest proposals I would not turn to a group that labels the existing social security measures "evil" and "immoral". ;-)

If you google for a "non-partisan" description of that group, I suspect that you'll read that it is a politically motivated organization with a few thousand members, not all of whom are doctors, and which publishes a journal criticized by other medical groups for poor research and quackery.

I prefer the AMA which presently opposes the idea but will at least consider the facts rather than hunting for fault. Sure the AMA is motivated by self-interest but here is an idea for you: we want physicians to be wealthy- wealthy enough that their well-being does not depend on as much churn as possible and so they can afford to be generous of their time and consideration.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
