I spend a semester trying to debug a program we got from Oak Ridge National Labs that did gaussian curve fitting to gamma ray spectra that was my first exposure to "KLUDGE" which was one of the argument names to a function!

Obviously there is a thin line between genius and insanity! I would have gone over the edge while you seem to have grown from the experience.
