am interested in your saverelations and restore relationscode. i am doing a 2.6 conversion and do not have a dataenvironment. we just have single tables. but i do have a need to create a data environment for a cursor in the report designer. want to save the cursor to a table. then have that table added to the data environment of the report. that way the cursor fields will show up in the fields list box of the expression builder. that is the hope anyway.

enough about me. not sure i understood your problem exactly. but when we do a "create view",then a "set view" (backwards way of saving and restoring environment), the record pointers are not always right. we have a primary table that we take a recno before the create view and the goto recno after the set view.
