FWIW, in recent history, most Democrats in sex scandals resigned, while most Republicans didn't. Here's the list:

Clinton (D) -- kept his job, but got impeached
McGreevey (D-NJ)--resigned
Spitzer (D-NY)--resigned
Craig (R-ID)--kept his job until the end of his term
Vitter (R-LA)--kept his job
Ensign (R-NV)--kept his job, so far
Edwards (D-NC)--wasn't in office, and doesn't seem likely to be again
Sanford (R-SC)--kept his job, so far
