With allowing anonymous access application becomes slow for everyone.
>Hi,
>Then, as Rick also suggests, I'd assume that IIS is requiring authorisation for the relevant pages and, whilst accounts local to the server are authenticated quickly, there is a delay when the server has to authenticate a domain account,.
>
>Assuming you have access to the web server you can test this by adding a page in the same area but specfically allowing anonymous access for that page (make sure "Enable anonymous access" is checked on the Properties/File Security page)
>
>>> I asked earlier how you deterrmined that the delay *was* caused by the VFP connection
>>No, it's not caused by VFP connection.
>>> the ONLY time you get a speedy response is when using authentication with an admin account
>>Yes.
>>>Are you sure that a local non-admin account is also slow?
>>yes
>>>Is any authentication done in ASP as well as in IIS
>>I am ot sure, but the way it works: I have a web based cient that communicates to an asp page which in turn calles an VFP exe for all data access and processing.
>>>Does IIS prompt for a log-on?
>>No
>>>Is this the same regardless of where the browser is used
>>That I need to try.

>>
>>>So to recap:
>>>
>>>Unless you are explicitly using impersonation the account used to access VFP will be the the account specified in the relevant application pool whether you are using anonymous access or not - so this part of the process should not vary depending on the authentication used by IIS. I asked earlier how you deterrmined that the delay *was* caused by the VFP connection - you didn't answer that.
>>>
>>>You also say that the anonymous access (where no authentication takes place) is also slow.
>>>In fact, if I understand you correctly, the ONLY time you get a speedy response is when using authentication with an admin account local to the machine on which IIS is running?
>>>
>>>If all of the above is correct I can't think of a circumstance that would account for the behaviour you are seeing.
>>>Are you sure that a local non-admin account is also slow?
>>>Is any authentication done in ASP as well as in IIS?
>>>Does IIS prompt for a log-on?
>>>Is this the same regardless of where the browser is used (different domain/intranet/internet)?
>>>
>>>
>>>>No, with anonymous access there is a delay just like if a login is not a local admin.
>>>>>I don't understand what you are saying....
>>>>>Did the delay disappear or not?
>>>>>
>>>>>>Here is a situation with anonymous access.
>>>>>>Allowing it will make it work like it a user is not a local admin even if he is.
>>>>>>
>>>>>>>>The server runs Windows 2003 Server R2.
>>>>>>>>Windows authentication.
>>>>>>>>No, I mean when my login is used to run the apps. it works fast, but for non local admins it is much slower.
>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>Then it sounds as if the delay occurs during authentication. What leads you to believe that the delay happens when making the VFP connection? What happens if you temporarily allow anonymous access?

>>>>>>>>>>I have a failry simple web application. It consists of an asp page that calls VFP component for all business porcessing and returning data back to the Browser. everything fine, except of performance. When me or another user who is a local admin on the web server box uses an app. it works very fast, btu for all other users it works 10 times slower. I have narrowed it down to a fact that it takes much longer for IIS to call a VFP component.
