Hi again...

I would like to provide better background to the nature of my situation.

The Sql Server database in question is a "holding" database for data that is maintained on the company's Oracle DBMS. The programmer that originally set the Sql Server DB up did so in order to work with what is actually a subset of the Oracle data. Meaning that the Sql db only contains a 90 to 120 day snapshot of the Oracle data. The Oracle DB contains all the historical information and is maintained by the company Oracle staff...backups, restores, admin, etc.

Since the Sql Server DB is refreshed each night, with a new 90 to 120 day snapshot of the Oracle DB, do I truely need a Transaction Log? Because, if the db should become corrupted or need to be restored, the DTS packages will basically recreate the snapshot from the Oracle DB. So, couldn't I do away with the Transaction log entirely? I believe I read that the Log can be deleted. Is this something that sounds feasible to you? If so, how would I proceed with "dropping" the Transaction Log?

TIA
Vince
