Hey Christoff, long time no see. Last October in Mesa, Arizona!

I thought that this is what was happening. Well, I'll keep PROCMON running and set the filter to "VFP9.EXE". It looks like FILEMON is very old now. I am using the Vista Business O/S on my workstation. The files I am accessing with VFP 9.0 are on my workstation as well.

Hey, is it hot over there? It has been whopping hot here.

Thanks,

Cecil

>If this happens frequently enough, you can keep FILEMON or PROCMON running in the background while you are working. Set the filter to "VFP9.EXE". VFP normally creates a temporary file with the new form, deletes the old one and then renames the copy.

>Unfortunately, this is an approach that is not very stable with modern OS. Windows supports pending deletions. That means, when an application (such as VFP) deletes a file that is in use by another application (such as a virus scanner), Windows returns success to the first app, keeps the file and marks it for deletion. As When the second app closes the file it gets deleted. Hence, VFP assumes it deleted the file, but as the file is still there the following rename operation fails.
