Government in this country started because of an oppressive government. So, the grand experiment was designed not to have a dictator (thank you George Washington for not seizing that opportunity). Here are just two quotes from one of our founding "smart guys" - Thomas Jefferson:

"A wise and frugal government, which shall leave men free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned - this is the sum of good government. "

"Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny. "

I'm sure Jefferson is spinning in his grave like that proton accelerator thingy due to this Obamanation of the United States.


>Its not relevant. Governments always have policies to try and shape the economy and society. The argument is about the current administration and are they leading the US to socialism. That is (to be frank ) laughable, show me nationalisation of key industries and redistribution of wealth. Your government always controls you to some extent, its called living in a country .
