>>MJ's "funeral service" was on 2 of the terrestrial channels simultaneously this evening. I made the mistake of watching it whilst eating my dinner (nothing on the other sides). Nearly made me gag. With filibustering speeches by politicians and all, gold coffin, schmaltz, and overall sickening jackophancy.

>>Noticeable also just how few famous faces were there - no E Taylor, D Ross.

>Liz Taylor was invited to speak but said she was too upset to do it (they were very close friends).
There were actually quite a few famous faces there - not just on stage but in the audience as well. I listened to it while working. Of all the performances, I most enjoyed Shaheen Jafargholi.
Paris' comments at the end of the ceremony reminded everyone watching or listening that it was also a memorial for someone who was dearly loved as a father.
