Hi Lincoln,
>Any advice on whether or not VFP6.0 is worth the upgrade from VFP5.0?
In a word: Yes! The increased productivity in the programmin environment alone is worth the upgrade, not to speak about the new language features. Let me just name a few improvements in the IDE:
- The new property/method dialog that is now sort of a control center for PEMs
- setting breakpoint in the method window
- When you close a class, all method windows that have been opened at that time are opened again if you modify the class. YOu can continue where you stopped the last time.
- If you want to add multiple file to the project manager just drag them from explorer to the project manager
- You can drag any object from explorer right into the command window to perform the appropriate action.
- We have a new improved Class Browser
- There's a component gallery letting you organize not only classes, but also testcases, documentation, specification, etc. for a certain project or in some other folder for general access (I think you can add a HTML link to the UT and get there right from within VFP :) )
- The new profiler lets you find weak point in your program as well as testing for full coverage of all code to avoid bugs.
I'm sure I missed a lot, that's just out of my head.
