When you say desktop you mean the _SCREEN window and desktop colour is _Screen.BackColor?

Did you change the Backstyle and Visible properties of the image control? Have you been using a BMP file (VFP requires a BMP file for that kind of transparency). Are you really using RGB(255,255,255)? RGB(254,255,255) looks virtually the same, but won't be transparent. You're not using _Screen.Picture, aren't you?
