I was never a Zawinal-as-a-human-being fan, but both he and Shorter could play. And Zawinal did write "Mercy, Mercy" after all.
Anyway, since they were both on "Bitches Brew" (one of the great albums of all time imho), I can give WR a pass. but with the talent they had, the group should have produced better stuff.
