The point being made is, the leaders of these countries that support terrorism have power over their people and they are the ones that Obama has to deal with, not the average citizen. Trying to use diplomacy on these leaders, to them, is a sign of weakness. A thousand pound bomb down their chimney, though, will really get their attention.

Dale, I agree with you 100%.

The notion that Islamic terrorists are "rogues", acting independently of nations like Iran, Syria, etc., is really flawed. These leaders rule their countries with an iron fist - if the truly "wanted" to stop a few "radical" terrorists from giving Islamic fundamentalism a bad name, they could surely do so in a heartbeat. The nation of Iran celebrated the 9/11 attacks.

For the record, I am not saying that I think we, today, should drop nuclear bombs right and left in that part of the world. I think we would have been justified in doing so after 9/11, just like we would have been justified in all-out attacks on both Iran and Syria after the bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in 1983.

My point is that our response has not equalled the threat (not even close!), and we went after the wrong country that began with the letters 'IRA'. (Not that the Iraqi govt didn't get what they deserved and that Hussein didn't deserve that nice little ring around the collar).

9/11 was like Pearl Harbor times a thousand, and our response has been a fraction of 1945. And now we have an apologetic president who makes Jimmy Carter look hawkish.

Just imagine what Truman would have done to a country that flew our airplanes into large buildings - he would have left a pure vapor trail.
