>>Well, the Talliban are not a country's army. Wherever they are, they take over and rule by terror in the name of Mohamed and Allah. Which should really p*ss off muslims, but it doesn't.

>Well, except for the ones it does. I think there are plenty of muslims, even in Afghanistan and Pakistan, who are and were really unhappy about the rise of the Taliban. Our best strategy is to help those people in ways that make it easy for them to resist the Taliban.

Absolutely true. Even today, there are not enough troops in Afghanistan. This is evident in remote areas where Al qaeda or the Taliban moves in and out of nightly. The local folks see them all the time and our troops can only make 'face contact' periodically because they have to cover so much ground. The local folks have to worry about what will happen when al qaeda moves through again. They typically are in a 'I'm going with the winner' mentality because they are worried what will happen when our forces move entirely out of the area and the repercussions to them and their families. Until they see that real control is in place by our troops and the local Afghanistan forces, they will be in a survival mode.
