Actually, I think she is independent and voted based on the issues that were most important to her. Many people, regardless of the party they belong to, do the same. She didn't support either candidate until well into October (she stated in many interviews that she hadn't made up her mind and was not a Democrat or Republican, but a registered Independent) and then publicly announced what she did like about Obama in October.

Oct 2008:

Earlier in 2008 regarding discussing politics with Clint Eastwood:

and here's a shocker:
