PWS in IIS 4 is a lot closer to the real thing than the earlier version of PWS. Although - for testing - PWS has always been pretty good. The most important issue is memory. If you are going to work with this stuff - you need plenty of memory. Also, you really need to be working with NT WorkStation.
Unless you are using NT Server - you will be using PWS. Most folks think you need NT Server to really test web apps. I don't think so. In fact - I don't think you really want to NT Server on your workstation/laptop. Just too much overhead.
So, on the whole, a combination of NT Workstation - and PWS - installed from the IIS 4.0 disk - should work fine.
