When I have a complex control that needs it's own control source, I use an invisible textbox for data storage and retrivial. The complex class creates this textbox, sets the controlsource to its own property and then uses the Value property to read and write. Any code that tries to parse the ControlSource only works in specific environments, but a generic solution is quite complex.
