AFAIK, your understanding is correct.

I assisted about 9 months ago to a session on MS Synch Framework and it did look promising as I also need to synchronise data (between SQL Server 2008 Express and VFP 9). The downside is that there's no client driver for VFP, you have to write your own. The Framework give you the possibility to extend it with custom client drivers, but I'm pretty sure that the client driver must be built in .NET. It doesn't look as an easy task neither.

My synchronisation project isn't started yet, so I will be interested in the result of your research. Please keep us informed ;)
