the way lcS = [Ha"llo] is shown in the debugger creates small WTF moments as well.
Not sure with (XML to be used in properties as well) which is more of a burden.
And let us not talk about dates when set date to another locale -
is it helpful the value changes when the line gets the focus in the debugger ?
At least the with the current solution there is only one change,
if you use dots as date spearators for instance <g>.

The addition of a Type Column, which the user can override,
if the value is not a string or the datatype vfp expects might have been more benficial -
but without real benefits from optional static typing?

Guess there is no really good solution here for our fox...
