It in process of becoming (third) worldly due to the current government and the people who elected them. It will not be the best place to live in the near future unless they are stopped.

But the complaint is about high tax. My question is why you shouldn't expect to pay more for better quality if you believe that is what you have? Or is this quality some sort of welfare "right" to be paid for by somebody else? ;-)

US taxpayers and servicemen have been paying for that privilege for a couple of hundred years. While they're at it they've been keeping a lot of the rest of the world free and safe.

But the primary beneficiary is the US itself- clearly. So I'm asking why higher taxes are such a crime. You want the best you gotta pay for it, right? Example: the US pays more for its military than most other countries put together. Where does that $ come from? Wouldn't you expect the tax burden to be more than all those other countries put together? If people think this is too much, shouldn't they campaign to reduce the military rather than complaining about apparently inevitable higher costs? Or if they don't want to reduce the military then they have to expect to pay a higher price.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
