1. Smaller file size
2. Is able to support Alpha Transparency
3. If using with image.pictureval then you need VFP9 sp2
4. Since it uses GDI+ internally for PNG, (bmp uses GDI), the image can be scaled without losing much resolution
5. Not recommended for buttons.
6. If used on a form could cause massive flickering as the form is "painted"

IME the best format for buttons is either BMP or better still ICO files. I would only use PNG with VFP if there was no other alternative.
