Jupiter has a cross-section, about 120 times as big as Earth. Also, a tremendous gravitation to attract stuff. In summary, these catastrophes should be more frequent on Jupiter than on Earth.

Note, however, that in 1908 there was something - apparently an asteroid - that hit Earth (in Siberia), causing a damage equivalent to several atomic bombs.
