In general, I agree with what many others already said in this thread... not really worth it if you don't need more than 3-4 GB RAM.

My 2 cents:
In my case, I have to be able to start concurrently at least 3 processes that require 1.5-2GB each. So, I use XP x64 on the physical machine, on which I run only VMWare, on which I usually run two VMs - one as db server (W2k3 x32), the other as dev environment (w2k3 x64). I have 8GB RAM and, usually, 6.5-7 are in use. The only problem with device drivers that I have is that I couldn't find any driver for the audio card - and I really don't care about that. :) So, everything is fine for me with 64 bit and I'm quite happy with it. :)

But if I didn't need more than 4GB... I would have stayed on 32 bit... less setup and configuration problems...

>I am interested to hear opinions about going with 64 bit Win 7 OS in general. Not just as it relates to VFP, but as an overall workstation. I'm sure we all use lots of software on our machines these days besides just VFP, so I want to look beyond just that detail. I am attracted to a 64 bit OS (I guess I am. Shouldn't it be better? It sure sounds cool, but I have no clue).

It's hard to complain about the performance of XP SP3 as it is right now, so I'm not sure I'm ready for the 64-bit plunge if it gets too involved. On the other hand, I don't want to get left behind in the world of my knowledge and experience in this area if it is going to be something that becomes more mainstream.
