No this is not how ODBC should work. The ODBC configuration should store and remember the physical location of your database, the only thing the VFP connection should need to know is the name of the ODBC connection. Are you having this same problem when you specify a database on a hard disk? The only thing I can think of is that you are seeing this behavior because of the removeable nature of a floppy drive...
