>>>What you may find is their site offers downloads for various hardware. However, if all you know is "Base System Device", how do you know which one(s) to download?
>>>
>>>Dell's support software has more information than Windows, so it can identify devices that Windows can't. It can then load drivers for those devices that need them. I *think* current versions of the Dell support software can automatically go out to the Dell site to get the latest drivers.
>>>
>>>Bottom line, unless you're really comfortable hacking with hardware you might be better off trying the Dell support software.

>>I found that my tools System Software is not good. It has no drivers; just some useless software.

>>On Dell web site I enter the computer Service Tag and it shows me all the various drivers for this computer only. It even has a small document that shows the suggested order of installation. However, the names of the drivers is somewhat confusing. For example there is no such a thing as Base System Device. But I will - hopefully - somehow figure out what is what.
>>
>>But this notebook has not option of connecting to the site automatically for latest drivers. Plus the support period already expired.

>That Service Tag thing is brilliant It uniquely identifies the computer so Dell knows exactly what is on it. Well, what was on it when it shipped. So much easier than trying to figure out which of many drivers you need.

I agree. And especially nice that they do not remove the information even if you do not purchase support after the initial support term expired.
