I just checked Google Langauge, and find that demand means exactly what I thought it did. Now I don't understand why I was told differently in the thread Peter pointed to. But never mind...

Just to clarify, if say for instance, you continually "demanded" things to be done or continually "demanded" explainations of various things, you would be classified as being "demanding" i.e. a PITA.

This is just an example of "You get more using Sugar than using a Stick" i.e. being polite not agressive.
