Boy, press "Previous" a few times and this thread is a blast from the past. ;-) Well, it goes to show the longevity of Typed DataSets :)
My first .NET project also used Crystal reports, and I immediately saw the benefit of typed datasets.
Some of the more irresponsible statements I've ever seen have come from those trying to bash them - partly because they're misunderstood, and partly because people lump them in with other less-desirable features (like TableAdapters). A few years ago I worked with a developer on a project who thought he was supposed to hate typed datasets, because much of what he read on blogs from his favorite authors led him to believe typed datasets were "evil". Well, he worked with them and finally made up his own mind. :)
