Personaly I think that Apple did this at the request of ATT...although I doubt anyone will ever be able to prove it even if it IS true.

I think that the phone companies are going to suffer a lot with GoogleVoice. I know that some services like Verzion and I think T-Mobile let you setup a handfull of "favorite" numbers on your service plan that you can talk to for free. This, in conjuction with google-voice, if you have it all setup properly, can result in unlimited incoming and outgoing calls that you never get charged minutes for....hahahahaha. Can you imagine a few million people talking for 1000's of minutes over these networks for free? haaha
Eventually all phone calls will be free anyway kids being born in the next couple of years will not remember having to pay for phone calls - I guess this is just a move towards that.
Anyway ATT and other compaines killed google's plan for free Wifi - perhaps they will do what they can to kill google's plan for free phone calls. Interestingly I notice in the fine print of my ATT contract (which is a freakn mile long) that you can't use their network for VOIP. Geeezeee I wish the FCC would worry less about a girl flashing her boob on TV and more on companies like ATT ripping us off.
