Hi Gang!

Question for today.....

I have been thrown an app to get done.... using VFP 8 SP1 (and I also have SocketTools 4.5).

I need to send data to a ThirdParty and receive data back using the Internet.

Here is what they typed up..... names have been changed to protect the Innocent...

"You can connect to The Loyalty Group's server via the IP address 65.66.67.68. It will be listening for connections on port 1998 (port 1999 SSL Encrypted). Data streams will be accepted only if in the format described in the "DataTransSpec.xls" spreadsheet.

All data streams must begin with Hex 02 or '(stx)', and end with Hex 03 or '(etx)'. In the event an (stx) is received but (etx) is not, the stream will be considered erroneous, and will be ignored. Transmission timeouts shoud be a 20-40 second window for response from the server."

I asked them what protocol they were using (FTP, HTTP, etc.) and they sent back the same info to me again..... so???

Anybody have any ideas??? Datastreams??? Or what should I next ask them??? Without making them mad....????
