First of all he publicly showed the world that the US negotiates with terrorists and continues to weaken.

Second he ensured that we'd do the same thing with Iran to try to get the 'students' who 'accidently wandered into Iran' released.

I'm sure somehow there is a lot of US $ in the mix as well.
