Backup in 2001 I was trying to use the HD serial number to lock my softwares

But I quit it and used only fixed passwords

Now I am looking for it again

Is there any serial number I can pickup to lock my software that will not cause crash at the moment ?

Windows serial number, HD or something like that ?
