Your current solution uses the ActiveX RDP control within IE. That is not installed by default, each user has to allow it to be installed so they effectively have to do a one-time setup in their browser to be able to run your current solution.

Citrix ICA claims to have a Java client for Mac, which almost certainly runs in a Java-capable browser. This is probably even easier to use than the RDP ActiveX on Windows. Just go to the site, a Java app(let) starts, everything just works - nothing to install/approve.

Citrix is one of the world's leading and most advanced remote-access companies. It'd be well worth contacting them with your specific requirements.
