This is a free republic (or is SUPPOSED TO BE ONE)....a majority doesn't have the "right" to take away individual (which includes ECONOMIC) rights.

No, but surely a Congressperson can't ignore a majority just because a minority claims that it takes away ECONOMIC rights? What about the various rights of the majority- and their potential political power, since that issue was raised?

If Obama's plans for discussing and identifying effective treatments are scuppered, IMHO insurers and payers will step into the breach increasingly to make those sorts of decisions for you. I doubt they particularly want to but it has already begun and represents rationing by another name. The alternative is to keep raising the price or to use public money to disguise the increasing costs, both of which are expedient short-term solutions.
