This may sound heartless but I don't care that much about Iraqi civilian casualties. It has been clear for a long time that the religious and ethnic divisions are fairly intractable, and it has been predicted for a long time that once we pulled out the lid might come off the boiling pot. This is the main reason we never should have invaded Iraq in the first place, along with the bogus pretext of them having been part of 9/11 and associated with Al Qaeda. Say what you will about Saddam -- and there is plenty to say, I am certainly not praising the man -- he hated Al Qaeda and kept them out of Iraq. It took the U.S. to draw them in.
