I was wondering if anybody is willing to share how they charge for on-site training on a vertical application. I am asked to go to Atlanta to give a customer a day of training. So I would need to fly there the day before. Then I would fly back at night on the day of training or the morning of the following day. At best it would take 2 days of my time away from the office. Or it could be 3 days.

Do you quote a price for just the day of training or the total number of hours taken from the office?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I've had some experiences with this, so I'll give my two cents.

If this is a client where I have a decent steady revenue stream, if they've been a good client, I'll charge a flat rate for the day I'm there (plus travel expenses). But I won't charge for the travel time.

If I don't have a steady and on-going relationship, I'd charge something...now, I know consultants, good consultants, who will charge a full 2 days if they're gone for two days. I still tend to be a bit soft there, I might charge a day and a half (and I've been criticized for not being firmer), but at least I'll still charge for than just for the meeting.

Many times the relationship with the client is an important factor...I'd rather make good money and have a longer term relationship than "great" money for a shorter term. But that's just me...
