>>I was wondering if anybody is willing to share how they charge for on-site training on a vertical application. I am asked to go to Atlanta to give a customer a day of training. So I would need to fly there the day before. Then I would fly back at night on the day of training or the morning of the following day. At best it would take 2 days of my time away from the office. Or it could be 3 days.
>>
>>Do you quote a price for just the day of training or the total number of hours taken from the office?
>>
>>Thanks in advance for any input.

>>
>>I've had some experiences with this, so I'll give my two cents.
>>
>>If this is a client where I have a decent steady revenue stream, if they've been a good client, I'll charge a flat rate for the day I'm there (plus travel expenses). But I won't charge for the travel time.
>>
>>If I don't have a steady and on-going relationship, I'd charge something...now, I know consultants, good consultants, who will charge a full 2 days if they're gone for two days. I still tend to be a bit soft there, I might charge a day and a half (and I've been criticized for not being firmer), but at least I'll still charge for than just for the meeting.
>>
>>Many times the relationship with the client is an important factor...I'd rather make good money and have a longer term relationship than "great" money for a shorter term. But that's just me...

We do this all the time. First, we charge for travel expenses (hotel, airfare, rental car, cab, etc…). We also charge a flat rate per day for the training. I think we charge $900 per day.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
