Evan,
First of all I must admit that the code I sent was wrong. I sent the correct code to Rick with email.
I rarely do crosstabbing. For fast tests I use _genxtab but being frankly all my apps crosstab routines were also my coding (not centric code as _genxtab, but specific to app and main reason is I find _genxtab slow - with so general purpose code I can understand it). But with _genxtabs there aren't so much problems as I know. It doesn't have an ordering mechanism and expect data be in order, truncate the names in a way I would never want. For I don't use it regularly I didn't hack its code and in 2.x there was another better xtab that I don't remember its name. Neverthless I can't deny _genxtab should be a base for excel pivot tables.
