It's hard to say why you have that drastic differences, that shouldn't happen... However, this particular syntax is probably hardly used in VFP programs (at least from my personal experience this is the first time I come across this syntax). It might be that VFP tries to search all class libraries in the EXE not just the one you specified with the alias part. Process Monitor should reveal if there are any differences in file access (reading the entire EXE) or registry (trying to resolve the class name as a COM object).
