We is our society, and we do it by voting. You know, I "almost" wish that 51% of the country would vote some of your rights away - then perhaps you'd have some concept of inalienable rights.
You said that you think your decisions about how to live should be based on what's good for you and your family with no concern about its impact on others. I consider that immoral.
Perhaps that isn't what you meant. It's not only ISN'T what I meant, it also ISN'T what I said. I never said, "with no concern about its impact on others". This is a sloppy misinterpretation of my views. I said that I hold the sanctity of the individual as an end in himself, not as a means to the ends of others.
If you do not understand the difference between the two statements and the fact that your conclusion is in error, you really are better off avoiding these types of discussions.
