The only way to achieve this is by directly talking to the SMTP server on the socket level. But there's a reason why we have so many mail clients available.

Unfortunately, there isn't anything like this. Mail started decades ago as a text-only medium. Even today a number of clients won't display formatted text or can be configured not to display any HTML mails.
