Again, this is only my guess, but it certainly could be that 2 years is the mandatory minimum for the offense.

Please do keep in mind that I'm a firm believer in the right to own guns (I have 2 myself and a range close by that has ladies nights on Mondays), but I also believe that the right comes with a huge responsibility for the safety of self and others around said firearm. I also believe that my rights end where your's begin and your's end where mine begin.

When someone displays their stupidity as badly as Plaxico did just proved that they are too stupid to be let out on their own with a loaded gun as they cannot fulfill the responsiblity that comes with owning/operating the weapon and therefore, since his stupidity has a HUGE possiblity of infringing on someone else's right to remain not shot by accident, then he just forfitted his right.

>I have no doubt it was all done according to law(s). Doesn't it still seem like an excessive sentence?

>>While that isn't quite true, it is still illegal to carry concealed without the proper permits and still illegal to carry a weapon into a place where alcohol is sold (unless you are a policeman) and that's probably what they're nailing him on. Only a guess though, because i haven't been paying any attention to the story

>>>attempted criminal possession of a weapon?? What the hell kind of charge is that? The legal profession needs to hire a couple of English majors.
>>>
>>>Besides I thought the U.S. constitution required everybody to carry a weapon. What about his rights? ;)
