FWIW, these sorts of exams are being replaced by more expensive tests and scans because of squeamishness. The replacement scan may cost $500. The finger costs a few cents for a glove as part of an existing examination and momentary loss of dignity for you. But you can be sure that physicians don't LOL about these things over a Guiness afterwards. We don't like it any better than you do, but if a few seconds allows identification of a craggy something that shouldn't be there, maybe a life has just been saved.
