I am beginning to hear, on the American news casts, that the Democrats are about to give up on working with the Republicans and just put a Democrat plan for health care into place by themselves.

Yes, I have heard that too, but I have a feeling that it will not happen. The overwhelming public sentiment against government run health insurance cannot be going unnoticed by the democratic congressmen that get their employee review at the 2010 elections. If they anger their constituents, they will be voted out of office. So I guess it boils down to how much they want to keep their jobs.
