Many years ago I wrote a routine that sent VFP reports to files on disk and later combined them into a single file to be sent to the printer. This batch print process was created as a workaround for functionality in Novell that no longer functioned once Windows 3.0 was installed on the desktop. There were several really good reasons why the users of this application needed this capability and the workaround has functioned flawlessly for many years. Now the client wants to have many of the VFP reports converted to Word documents but still wants to keep this batch print process. This raises several questions: Can Word documents be printed to file under automation? I've worked with ActiveDocument.Printout and its myriad parameters for a couple of days with no success. Even if I could get that to work, is there any chance that the files could be combined, not only with other Word documents but with the VFP reports?
