Usually in modern networks (in my experience) the proxy should be "off / proxy disabled".

In FireFox (back-translated from Spanish!): Tools - Options - Advanced - Network - Connection

In the browser-that-must-not-be-named: Tools - Internet Options - Connections - LAN setup
