Indeed, but don't call me sir, man. Just (i.e. your rant here is justified) because we don't know if the one we reply to is indeed the last one. Simply because it being the last one at the time of the last refresh doesn't mean it's still the currently last one - nor that, even if it is, it will stay so. Actually it won't - as soon as we click Send, it isn't.

So give me some context (but not ten levels deep - I won't scroll to see a new paragraph) or give me... a second to click on the next message.
